At the time, the park they were developing the attraction for was supposed to be located across from the studios. The idea for the Mansion precedes Disneyland and WED Enterprises, dating to when Walt Disney hired the first of his Imagineers. The Haunted Mansion inspired two similarly-themed attractions, Phantom Manor and Mystic Manor, which exist at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland, respectively. Each location differs slightly in design, utilizing a range of technology from centuries-old theatrical effects to modern special effects, including spectral Audio-Animatronics. The haunted house attraction features a ride-through tour in Omnimover vehicles called "Doom Buggies", and a walk-through show is displayed to riders waiting in the queue line. The Haunted Mansion is a dark ride attraction located at Disneyland, Magic Kingdom, and Tokyo Disneyland. Grim Grinning Ghosts" composed by Buddy Baker I would have liked to know a little more after THAT conclusion, but I shall not say anymore, because that would spoil the ending. He drew that out as long as he possibly could. Montegue seemed to take an awfully long time to get to the history of hill house. I would have liked the hauntings to begin a little quicker. The hauntings in itself are meant to frighten but they are really in the background, as the true evil is embedded itself in the characters. At first, everything goes swimmingly but then their true natures start to emerge–ESPECIALLY when the hauntings begin. There are these completely different characters, all with different motives coming together.
In fact, I think this is where my love for this book resides. There is so much more depth to the characters.
However, this novel is way more gripping than The Amityville Horror.
Soon, they will have wished they had never set foot in the dreaded home…Īgain, like Amityville Horror, I wasn’t scared out of my wits or struggling to sleep after reading the book. At first, it seems like it is just minor coincidences and none are too concerned. So the four newcomers await what the house has in store for them. Montegue, Theodora, Eleanor, and Luke are unlikely companions but come together to investigate Hill House. The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson is one of the books that I think of when I think of Classic-Horror.
